JAG wins two RAYA Awards 2025

In September 2025, JAG Jakob attended the RAYA Award Ceremony 2025 in Denmark, celebrating the latest innovations in pharmaceutical engineering and robotics. We had submitted two projects in two different categories and could not believe that at the end of the event, we took home two "Robotics Application of the Year Awards".

With our projects in the "Logistics" and "Fill & Finish" categories, we impressed the jury with innovative solutions, precise system integration, and technical excellence. Both projects exemplify our expertise in the development and implementation of highly complex automation solutions that significantly increase efficiency, safety, and traceability in production environments in the life sciences industry.

This recognition is a great success for our teams, who work every day with commitment, expertise, and passion to push the boundaries of what is possible and create sustainable added value for our customers.

Robot-based palletizing solution in a classified environment

As part of a challenging modernization project, JAG developed a fully automated solution for palletizing and wrapping vials within an existing cleanroom-classified production environment—and in an extremely limited space. The goal was to increase productivity and flexibility while complying with the high regulatory requirements of pharmaceutical production.

The solution processes up to eight different vial formats (50 ml to 500 ml), with format changes requiring virtually no operator intervention. This minimizes changeover time and enables continuous production without interruptions. Two STÄUBLI Stericlean robots form the heart of the system and ensure both maximum cleanroom compatibility and reliable performance under GMP conditions.

At the software level, the system is fully integrated into the higher-level MES and ERP systems via JAG RES. Production orders are automatically transferred and palletizing data is reported back in real time, ensuring end-to-end traceability and transparent process control. Even manual interventions, such as pallet changes, do not interrupt the robotized process thanks to integrated safety and synchronization mechanisms.

The result:

  • 20% increase in productivity despite space constraints
  • Maximum flexibility for different formats
  • Reduced operating effort and higher process reliability
  • Complete digital traceability in accordance with regulatory requirements

The project was implemented entirely by JAG – from engineering and robotics integration to software development and on-site qualification by our own CQV team.
This is an example of how intelligent automation and precise system integration are creating real added value in pharmaceutical production today.

Category Logistics

Multi-level intralogistics with mobile robotics and end-to-end system integration

JAG implemented a highly automated intralogistics system for an international pharmaceutical manufacturer, integrating a fleet of mobile robots into a multi-story building. The challenge was to seamlessly combine material flows, process reliability, and traceability in a complex spatial and organizational environment.

The developed system enables the fully automated transport of vials and packaging units between different process and storage areas across multiple levels. Modern mobile robots take care of the precise and safe movement of the material, while elevators, transfer stations, and safety systems are intelligently coordinated.

The JAG RES plays a central key role, connecting all IT and automation systems involved – from line control and MES to ERP structures.
The result is seamless digital traceability of all vials across the entire material flow. Every movement is logged, checked, and controlled in a process-reliable manner – a decisive contribution to regulatory compliance.

Key benefits for the operator

    • Automated material logistics without manual transport routes
    • Greater process reliability and reproducible workflows
    • Full transparency and traceability across all production stages
    • Efficient use of space through optimized movement and layout planning
    • Robust integration into existing building and process structures

This project impressively demonstrates JAG's ability to combine mechanical, robotic, and software-based system components into a powerful, intelligently controlled overall architecture. It shows how modern automation can sustainably transform production and logistics processes in the pharmaceutical industry.
